Panic Attacks

Panic attacks are comprised of both physical feelings and psychological symptoms. The physical symptoms include rapid heart rate, hyperventilation, excessive sweating and dizziness or faintness. The psychological symptoms include intense fear of the situation, a desire to flee the place where you are having the attack and ultimately, a strong fear that the attacks will reoccur leading to avoidance of situations that you believe are stimulating the problem.

The treatment for panic attacks involves learning how to identify and control the physiological symptoms and then learning how to change the inappropriate thoughts that are maintaining the fear. In addition, we will help you take the appropriate risks so that you can safely go back to your normal routine and eliminate avoidance of fearful situations.
